There are many dog owners who find that the natural instinct of their dogs to
bark is something that needs to be controlled. Very often, the sonic bark collar
is recommended for these situations, but are they really effective?
There is a great saying among professional dog trainers and that is “Train the
owner at the same time as you train the dog," and perhaps you've heard it.. That
means that if the owner doesn't understand the training, he or she won't know
what his or her dog is going through and his or her orders might be confusing or
even contradictory for the dog.
However, for those owners that understand their dogs behavior, the sonic collar
(also known as the ultrasonic collar) is a good training tool. The sonic collar
is not a magical solution to all your dog's problems, since it still requires
time and patience.
We live in an imperfect world and the rush to quieten a dog can sometimes lead
to the total miss-use of a sonic bark collar. A common mistake is to make the
dog wear the collar all day long. They really should only be used at those times
when normal training will not keep the dog quiet and when barking from other
dogs will not cause the collar to react incorrectly. The ultrasonic bark collar
usually comes with settings that you should pay attention to. These include the
level of sensitivity that triggers the response, as well as the intensity of the
stimulus that the dog will receive once the collar is activated.
The correct use of a sonic bark collar will help you teach your dog not to bark
during inconvenient times or situations.
Although it is aggreed that the best way to train a dog to stop an innapropriate
behavior is to catch it then and there. The question still remains whether or
not the sonic bark collar is the best way to stop your barking dog. However, if
for some reason you object to the electric and spray collars, you can always try
the sonic one.
The sonic bark collar is an effective way to train your dog into stopping inconvenient barking. They are not a fast fix though. The ultrasonic bark collar works only when the owner knows how to train his or her dog.
