Creating a Living Space for Your Shar Pei Puppy

Having your cuddly new furry friend at home is great fun and can be extremely exciting, but it’s not necessarily just a walk in the park. Shar Pei puppies can be a handful, and are known for getting into trouble if they are not properly supervised. This is not because they are bad, it’s simply because they get bored when they have nothing better to do.

The fun thing about puppies is that they are playful and comical, but that can also be a curse. Shar Pei puppies enjoy getting into everything they can, and for that reason, you need to be able to puppy-proof your house, so that your puppy and your house are in the safest condition they can be. The following few paragraphs give you a heads up look about how you can make your home safe for your puppy so that you can just enjoy your newest family member, knowing they are safe.

    Puppies Get Into Everything

The most important thing to remember when you get a new puppy is that they get into everything. Many people make the mistake in thinking that dogs like to chew on bones and nothing else, but such is not the case. Your Shar Pei pup will be getting new teeth in, his gums will be sore, and he will want to get into everything he possibly can, so you need to be aware before it happens.

Think like a dog. Don’t think like a person, because you won’t see all of the possible things that puppies could get into. Think about things such as electrical cords, plastic pieces, small things like buttons, crayons, markers, anything that could fit into your puppy’s mouth.

87% of all dogs DIE way too early because of the food they are fed. Find out how to STOP this happening to your Shar Pei!
As you would do with a child, put everything out of their reach, and make sure they have plenty of toys in many colors and textures so they have less time to find other things.

    Chemicals are Hazardous

Your Shar Pei puppy is also at risk for chemical dangers, as they enjoy getting into those things as well. Things like household cleaners, bleach tablets for toilet bowls, gardening chemicals, anything that isn’t edible to humans is inedible to puppies as well.

This is often where Shar Pei puppies get into trouble, as people don’t think of these things as a hazard. Sometimes puppies will just get an upset stomach, but occasionally they will get into something more harmful and if the puppy isn’t forced to rid himself of the chemical quickly, damage can be very serious or even deadly.

    Don’t Forget About Traffic!

Another thing your puppy needs protection from, is traffic. Be sure to keep your puppy indoors, on a leash, or in a securely fenced in yard. One of the most common causes of canine death is getting hit by a car. This happens when puppies run loose, or their owners don’t pay close enough attention to there whereabouts and they end up running into traffic.

The best way to keep your Shar Pei puppy safe is to supervise him or her at all times, keep chemicals out of reach, and keep him occupied so that he is less tempted to chew on household items. Once you feel comfortable keeping your puppy safe, your next step is to learn about what to get for him in terms of Shar Pei puppy supplies.
