How do I train my Shar Pei Mix to get along with other dogs?

Hi, I have already asked this question before and many of you have replied. But what I forgot to mention was that she is spayed, she is 3 years old, and I got her a few months ago so I haven't been there the whole time to train her when she was young. I have a feeling she spent most of her time in the crate before we got her. She is very nice to people and the 5 cats we have, but I have been working so hard to socialize her with other dogs. Any other advice now that you know more?

Shar peis are known to be a dog aggressive dog breed. If she's nice with people then I don't see any real problem. Dogs are pack animals, they don't need to play with other strange dogs outside their pack, wolves certainly would never do this in the wild.

What the dog does need is some good solid obedience training so you can control the dog aggression. Find a trainer or train her yourself. She needs to learn to mind you over her aggression.

well you can show her a dog and before she starts barking give her a treat and just teach her everytime she sees a dog it means she gets a treat if she is calm, if she wont quit down get in between her and the dog and distract her, when she settles down and pays attention to you then give her a treat, it might take a while but good luck

Yes. The extra information helps. It sounds like you adopted and/or rescued her. Her socialization has not been good and her life probably wasn't either.

Teaching a dog aggressive dog not to be is difficult. I can honestly say I would never attempt it and I am a pretty good novice trainer. My daughter is exceptional and she would not take on this task.

What needs to be done is going to take time and patience and a trainer. You seriously need to look into a professional trainer/behaviorist for your dog. Don't attempt to do this yourself.
